What we are offering: Our graduates become involved in as wide a range of activities as possible, from on-site machine commissioning work to electrical design and software. Every project is different which makes the work interesting and challenging. Work alongside some of the most experienced engineers in machine automation in New Zealand. This is an opportunity for learning a wide range of practical engineering skills, with our toolbox drawing from the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and software engineering. Our R&D program also provides the opportunity for involvement in the latest technology.

Spotlight on Graduate Recruitment - Niklas Moore In November 2006 Niklas Moore joined Tui Technology after finishing his mechanical engineering degree that year from Canterbury University. Read on below to discover what he has been up to since then:

Nik has had the opportunity to work alongside some of the most experienced automation engineers around. This and Nik's dedication has meant that he has already acquired excellent engineering skills: - On-site commissioning, getting the big beasts running!
- Knowledge of machinery and the functioning of mechanisms in industrial plant.
- Machine safety - design of safeguards for protecting people from hazardous mechanisms.
- Electrical design and the function of key components such as machine control systems, drives, servos, scanning equipment etc.
- Programming including sequential languages for industrial controllers, including training courses for these.
- Working alongside customers and understanding their needs.
- Nik has also taken the unique opportunity to become a registered electrician and is halfway through this qualification.
In the two years since joining Nik has worked in the Rotorua office and has been involved in the following projects: - Working on the Mareeba Sawline Project at the time of writing. Has spent several weeks on site in Queensland working on the design.
- Travelled to Sweden to decommission an optimising saw for Waimea Sawmillers of Nelson. Commissioned the machine in Nelson.
- Travelled to Sweden as part of the design effort for the Linck sawline for Sequal Sawmill, Kawerau. Nik was the Primary Supervisor for the installation of the electrical equipment and cabling at the Sawmill.
- Programming and Commissioning for Fingerjointer and planer line, Tauranga.
- Programming and Commissioning for trimmer line and timber printer, Masterton.
- Commissioning of Resaw machine, Dannevirke.
- Commissioning a printing press in Ashburton (The Guardian).
- Commissioning of 6 Carton Erecting Machines for Carter Holt Harvey Australia.
